Notes

* Leap Day, once every fourth year. For example, 4 DR had a Shieldmeet.

† Extra day added between months.

This calendar is the most-used in Faerûn, and was created by the wizard Harptos of Kaalinth. It is split into 12 months, each lasting three ten-days. There are an additional five days that fall between months, bringing the total number of days in most years to 365. Every fourth year has an additional day added, known as Shieldmeet, the equivalent of a leap year day.

The wizard Harptos also designed a zodiac, based on the most prominent constellation in night sky for each month. Rather than having the five extra days "borrow" a constellation from a neighboring month, they have their own signs related to the most brilliant star in the night sky in those days. Shieldmeet is the exception to this, as it uses the sign of the Owl, taken from the following month of Eleasias.
